About this role

Post Office Assistant - Part-Time

LONDIS Balla is seeking a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Part-Time Post Office Assistant to join our team. Working in a fast-paced retail post office environment, the successful candidate will assist customers with a range of postal, financial, and retail services while ensuring an efficient and positive customer experience.

Location: LONDIS, Main Street, Balla, Co. Mayo
Hours: Typically 25 hours per week, including occasional Saturdays and holiday cover
Rate of Pay: Starting from €14.65 per hour

  • Greet customers, answer questions about postal rates, and recommend suitable mail and shipping options

  • Process letters, parcels, stamp sales, bill payments, banking services, and social welfare collections

  • Operate the till and process cash and card payments accurately and securely

  • Balance the cash register and complete end-of-shift reconciliation procedures

  • Maintain stock levels and ensure the post office area is clean, organised, and well-presented

  • Complete basic administrative tasks and required paperwork

  • Handle confidential customer information in line with company procedures and data protection requirements

  • Follow all company policies and health and safety guidelines

  • Support the wider store team as required

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Friendly, approachable, and professional manner

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when handling cash and confidential information

  • Basic computer and keyboard skills for operating post office and retail systems

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

  • Good organisational and time management skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Previous experience in retail, banking, customer service, or cash handling is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided

  • Flexibility to work occasional Saturdays and provide holiday cover
