Job Description

Process Development Intern - Next Generation Emulsions

Start date: February 2023

Duration: 5 to 6 months

Platform/Project: Next Generation Emulsions

During your assignment, you will be part of the International Zone R&D team. You’ll be working in a high performing team, alongside peers always trying to reach the next level. You’ll be reporting into (Madalina Dobos  & Associate Scientist Process Development). As an integrated team member, we welcome you to take part in the team’s activities such as team meeting & category meeting which will give you a real feel for the company and the business. Get ready for a lot of exposure to internal senior stakeholders. The delivery of the Next Generation Emulsions project will be your primary responsibility.

Assignment and key activities:

  • You will be responsible for running trials and analysis on emulsified products that will enable the delivering of a new process to be implemented in the factories.
  • Learning about emulsification processing and application for current products.
  • Coordinate pilot plant trials and collaborate with different partners.
  • Setting up microbiological challenge tests to validate the process conditions and process lethality in close cooperation with our microbiologist/scientific services department.
  • Understand the current way of working to produce Mayonnaise and Emulsions at Pilot Plant and Factory scale.
  • Understand analytical and sensory methods to measure trials performance.
  • Define an analytical plan.
  • Prepare periodic presentations to keep the internship supervisor, and the Process Team informed about the progress.

Specific Team Requirements:

  • Bachelor/Master level in food processing technology or food related engineering
  • Knowledge on: General process on food industry, Scale up knowledge, Ingredients interaction and Emulsification process
  • You are a teamplayer who is proactive and have good communication skills. Curious and organized person.
  • You should have strong communication skills and fluency in English, both written and verbal (Dutch is not a requirement but other languages are a plus)
  • You are enrolled at a university for at least 50% study load for the duration of the internship.
  • NOTE: EU working rights are required (Either you have EU Citizenship, you are studying in the Netherlands or have relevant student work visa)
