I’m working with a growing and ambitious legal team in Leicester who are looking to appoint a Property Solicitor or Legal Executive.

This is a particularly interesting opportunity for someone who enjoys property work but would prefer to move away from some of the more traditional pressures associated with private practice.

There are no billing targets and no time recording.

 

That doesn’t mean this is a quiet or low-pressure environment. The team is busy, commercially focused and continuing to grow, working with an interesting mix of both in-house and external clients. However, the emphasis is on providing good-quality, practical legal advice rather than constantly watching the clock or chasing chargeable-hour targets.

The Role

You’ll be involved in a broad range of commercial property matters, with appropriate support and supervision depending on your level of experience.

Your work will include:

• Acquisitions and disposals
• Commercial leases and landlord & tenant matters
• Refinancing work
• Drafting and negotiating sale contracts and transfer deeds
• Drafting and negotiating leases and licences
• Security documentation
• Managing your own caseload of live client matters
• Providing practical and commercially focused advice
• Working alongside other specialist teams within the wider business
• Developing relationships with both existing and new clients

About You

The client is deliberately keeping an open mind when it comes to PQE.

They have primarily been considering candidates from NQ through to around 2–3 years’ PQE, although finding the right person and the right fit for the team is more important than an exact PQE level.

You will ideally:

• Be a qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive
• Have experience within commercial property or residential conveyancing
• Be comfortable managing your own matters with appropriate supervision
• Have good commercial awareness
• Be confident dealing directly with clients
• Have strong drafting and communication skills
• Be personable, self-motivated and keen to develop
• Enjoy working as part of a collaborative and ambitious team

Candidates coming from a residential conveyancing background who are interested in developing their career within commercial property are also encouraged to apply.
