  • High school diploma or GED AND Four years of work experience in law enforcement, firefighting, EMS, rescue services, or 911 Communications.
  • Two years of work experience as a full-time instructor in peace officer, fire service, EMS, rescue topics, or 911 communications topics applicable to area of assignment, OR Four years providing diversified training development and delivery applicable to the area of assignment as an adjunct instructor on special assignment.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire Georgia P.O.S.T. instructor certification and any other specialty instructor certification applicable to the area of assignment.
  • Be in good standing with Georgia P.O.S.T. and any position specific certifying agency.

  • Preference may be given to those applicants who have a minimum of four years’ recent law enforcement work experience
  • Have been regularly instructing in a law enforcement training program
  • Have specialization in an advanced subject area applicable to basic LE mandate training

Job Description:

Under limited supervision, performs duties as a GPSTC instructor for training delivery to public safety personnel and participates in the research and design of statewide training programs. Provides training and evaluation or directs the provision of training and evaluation for public safety personnel, including training on advanced and specialized topics. Performs training needs assessment, research, and evaluation for training programs having regional or statewide impact. Directs professional staff in the development, review, and revision of statewide public safety training programs. May supervise and coach less experienced instructors. Position Requirements: Training delivery may require evening, early morning, weekend work. Position requires travel to assist in training delivery at satellite locations, other regional academies, and GPSTC main campus. Instructor of topics including firearms, defensive tactics, and driver training for law enforcement: Long periods of standing, riding, driving, bending, and squatting required. Year-round training in all weather conditions. Wearing of personal protective equipment, i.e., training suit used for defensive tactics training.
