Job Description – Architect (Ruby on Rails)

Position: Architect – Ruby on Rails
Experience: 15–20 Years
Location: Mumbai , Bangalore, Chennai
Employment Type: Full-Time

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Ruby on Rails Architect to lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance web applications. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Ruby on Rails architecture, strong object-oriented programming skills, and the ability to design robust backend systems aligned with business goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and develop scalable and maintainable web applications using Ruby on Rails.
• Lead technical discussions, solution design, and system architecture decisions.
• Build reusable, efficient, and reliable Ruby code.
• Design and optimize database schemas to support complex business processes.
• Integrate multiple data sources, APIs, and databases into a unified system.
• Ensure high performance, responsiveness, security, and scalability of applications.
• Implement automated testing platforms and unit tests.
• Mentor engineering teams and drive coding best practices and standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, DevOps, QA, and UI/UX.
• Drive CI/CD adoption and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 15–20 years of overall software development experience with strong expertise in Ruby on Rails.
• Extensive experience with Ruby on Rails and common libraries such as RSpec and Resque.
• Strong understanding of Ruby syntax and its nuances.
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
• Experience with server-side templating languages such as Liquid, Slim, etc.
• Knowledge of server-side CSS preprocessors such as Sass.
• Basic understanding of front-end technologies including JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Strong familiarity with MVC architecture, ORM, RESTful APIs, and mocking frameworks.
• Ability to write clean, readable, maintainable, and reusable Ruby code.
• Experience in designing scalable and distributed applications.
• Expertise in database design, schema creation, and performance optimization.
• Experience implementing automated testing frameworks and unit testing.
• Proficiency with version control systems such as Git, SVN, or Mercurial.
• Familiarity with development tools such as Bundler, Rake, Bower, etc.
• Experience with Continuous Integration and DevOps practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Exposure to microservices architecture and containerization tools like Docker/Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
