Job Description:

Radiology Technologist (Interventional Radiology Track)

Launch Your Career in Interventional Radiology

Are you a recent Radiologic Technology graduate looking to begin a career in Interventional Radiology (IR)? This position offers the opportunity to build specialized skills while working alongside experienced Interventional Radiologists, nurses, and imaging professionals in a fast-paced procedural environment. You'll receive hands-on training while performing diagnostic imaging and preparing to advance into an Interventional Radiology Technologist role.

Work Hours / Shift

Full-Time Days

Four 9-hour shifts per week

$10,000 Sign-On Bonus

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols.

  • Position patients and imaging equipment appropriately to obtain diagnostic-quality images while maintaining patient comfort and safety.

  • Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the exam, answering questions, and addressing individual patient needs.

  • Perform direct patient care within the technologist scope of practice, including monitoring patient condition, assisting with patient transport, and utilizing appropriate infection prevention practices.

  • Operate radiographic imaging equipment safely while following ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) radiation safety principles.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).

  • Ensure accurate patient identification and exam verification prior to performing imaging procedures.

  • Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked imaging rooms while monitoring equipment functionality and reporting maintenance concerns.

  • Monitor inventory levels and notify appropriate personnel when supplies require replenishment.

  • Cross-train into Interventional Radiology and other advanced imaging modalities as departmental needs require.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to support high-quality patient care.

  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of diagnostic radiology principles, patient positioning, and imaging procedures, including surgery and trauma imaging.

  • Ability to safely operate radiographic imaging equipment and determine appropriate technical factors to produce high-quality diagnostic images.

  • Knowledge of radiation safety principles, including time, distance, shielding, and ALARA practices.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals from diverse backgrounds.

  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to perform radiographic procedures independently while maintaining department quality standards.

  • Knowledge of patient care principles for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

  • Ability to learn radiology software applications, including PACS, EMR, and other imaging systems.

  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to read, write, and speak conversational English.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.

  • Commitment to maintaining required certifications, licensure, annual education, and continuing professional development.

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, providers, team members, and others from diverse backgrounds.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Associate degree preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program required.

Work Experience

  • One year of radiology experience preferred, or successful completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program as a new graduate required.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Technologist – Radiography (RT(R)(ARRT)) required.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Pay Range:

$24.24 - $45.09
