Reconciliation Analyst / Investment Operations Process Analyst

This is a hybrid role within the Portfolio Operations group, splitting time roughly evenly between executing core daily operations functions and engineering automation and AI-enabled improvements across Portfolio Operations workflows. The primary operational focus is custodian reconciliation, with additional support across corporate actions, pricing oversight, and class actions. The person in this role will work closely with custodian banks, trade settlements, fund accounting, corporate actions, and client service teams, while also serving as a hands-on builder of automation and AI tooling that strengthens how the work gets done across the team.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Operations

• Reconcile Dodge & Cox’s internal investment accounting records to custodian banks using Electra Reconciliation; own exceptions end-to-end — researching root cause using Eagle STAR, Bloomberg, and related systems, proactively following up with custodians, and driving items to closure rather than letting them age

• Support core Portfolio Operations functions including corporate actions, pricing oversight, class actions, and broker oversight

• Prepare monthly client reports to specified deadlines, including customized reporting where client or custodian needs require it

• Provide backup coverage and surge support during peak workload periods and complex events

Process Engineering & Automation

• Analyze workflows across Portfolio Operations — including reconciliation, corporate actions, pricing, class actions, and broker oversight — to identify opportunities for automation and AI-enabled efficiency and risk reduction; define metrics to measure impact over time

• Contribute to development of future state reconciliation strategy, including potential new vendor selection

• Design, build, and maintain AI-assisted workflows using approved tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and workflow automation platforms

• Train and refine automation and AI tools to support repeatable tasks, and establish validation, monitoring, and quality-control processes for their outputs

• Collaborate with the AI Working Group, Technology, Compliance, Risk, and Legal to ensure appropriate governance

• Act as a department champion for AI, supporting the broader Investment Operations AI strategy

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; computer science, information systems, engineering, finance, or accounting preferred

• Proficiency with Python for data manipulation, scripting, and workflow automation (e.g., pandas, API integrations, file/data parsing) required

• Proficiency with SQL, including writing queries and joins to extract and analyze data across operational and accounting data sets

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in investment operations, reconciliation, or a related financial operations function preferred

• Experience with portfolio reconciliation and accounting systems (Electra, Eagle STAR, Bloomberg, and Microsoft Excel)

• Demonstrated ability to improve processes through automation or scripting; exposure to AI tools such as Microsoft 365 Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or workflow automation platforms is a plus — candidates with strong technical fundamentals are expected to pick up AI tooling on the job

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and detail-oriented skills

• Excellent judgment, high integrity, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across teams

The salary range for this position is $125k - $170k.

The listed pay scale denotes only the pay range of the base salary and does not include discretionary bonus compensation, which may make up an important portion of the total remuneration.  Dodge & Cox encourages applicants to consider the value of the many competitive benefits it offers, including coverage of 100% of all healthcare premiums for employees and their families and fully funding a retirement plan at 25% of the total compensation to the IRS limit.
