Professor Raúl Rubio (Languages) is seeking a graduate student to serve as a research assistant. The student will engage with ongoing work related to publication(s). Related to Academic Projects & Creative Writing (in Spanish & English) in relation to Cuba, Latin America & Latinx Studies, Performance, Ethnic & Gender Studies. Particular research and creative practice projects include: academic research support related to Cuba; humor studies; and performance art studies.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Overseeing editorial drafting of book proposals, drafts of chapters or creative texts, correspondence with contributors, etc.

  • Managing drafts from contributors and working with the editors of each book project.

  • Procuring materials from libraries, archives, or inter-library loan

  • Helping with project management, database creation, web development

  • Managing visual materials, copyright compliance, and reproduction requests

  • Preparing manuscripts and correspondence with presses, or other venues.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completed or In-process Bachelors Degree

WORK MODE

  • Hybrid - Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice. Employees in this role will also be expected to use their best judgment to be on campus when necessary in order to best fulfill the responsibilities of their job descriptions. #LI-DNI

Weekly Virtual Meetings with the Professor

Independent Remote Work 3-5 hours per week.  

Online Synchronous Meetings held once or twice a week.

Hourly Rate: $31.37
