What you'll do

  • Collect, organize, analyze, and maintain technical, financial, planning, grant, project, and stakeholder data to support project delivery, decision-making, and client objectives.
  • Support grant and program activities, including applications, administration, reimbursement documentation, compliance reviews, monitoring, cost reconciliation, and development of supporting materials.
  • Contribute to disaster recovery, hazard mitigation, resilience, emergency management, infrastructure, and planning projects through research, technical analysis, writing, and project coordination.
  • Prepare, maintain, and manage reports, correspondence, presentations, planning documents, proposals, scopes of work, project records, meeting materials, SharePoint sites, databases, dashboards, spreadsheets, task trackers, and other systems of record.
  • Coordinate meetings, stakeholder engagement activities, and client communications; document action items, track project progress, and support follow-through on assignments.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews to support the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance of project, grant, planning, and technical documentation.
  • Support specialized services such as FEMA and HUD grant programs, hazard mitigation and emergency management planning, resilience initiatives, geospatial analysis, data visualization, and field or site assessments.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of project, client, office, and organizational needs.

Job Description

Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Resilience and Emergency Management (REM) Specialist to join our Resilience and Emergency Management Team. This is an entry-level position and is based out of Tallahassee, FL.  

REM is a mission-driven, comprehensive and diverse unit of over 100 staff members within the larger company that tackles some of the toughest disaster and resilience challenges across the nation. This position supports public-sector clients through disaster recovery, hazard mitigation, resilience planning, emergency management, grants management, technical analysis, program delivery, stakeholder coordination, and quality-focused documentation. 

Your Role

  • Collect, organize, analyze, and maintain technical, financial, planning, grant, project, and stakeholder data to support project delivery, decision-making, and client objectives.

About You

  • EXPERIENCE: 0–2 years of professional, internship, academic, volunteer, or project experience in emergency management, disaster recovery, hazard mitigation, grants management, planning, engineering, finance, data analysis, community engagement, or related fields. 
  • EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Planning, Public Policy, Political Science, Geography/GIS, Environmental Studies, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Communications, or a related field. A Master’s degree may substitute for experience. 
  • SPECIAL SKILLS: 
  • Strong writing, research, analytical, organizational, and communication skills. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and familiarity with AI-enabled productivity tools, such as Microsoft Copilot. 
  • Ability to manage documentation, track action items, prioritize competing deadlines, and maintain attention to detail. 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and clients. 
  • Experience with tools such as Power BI, ArcGIS, Adobe Acrobat, Smartsheet, Monday.com, SharePoint, FEMA grant systems, or data visualization platforms is a plus.

Additional Information 

Expected compensation range is between $60,000 - $70,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
