About the role

What can change for a child when they have one adult in school who understands them, believes in them and knows how to help when things become difficult?

For some pupils, accessing a busy mainstream classroom is about more than academic ability. Transitions, changes in routine, social situations or emotional regulation can all become barriers to learning.

A mainstream primary school in Kingsbury is looking for a Pupil Inclusion Mentor to provide consistent, individualised support to pupils with additional needs.

This is a relationship-led role for someone who is patient, calm and able to see beyond behaviour.

The setting

The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including EHCPs, Autism, SEMH and ADHD.

You will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to provide consistent support across the school day, helping pupils feel settled, access learning and develop greater independence.

The role

As a Pupil Inclusion Mentor, you will:

• Support pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and EHCPs

• Provide one-to-one and classroom support

• Help pupils manage transitions and changes in routine

• Recognise when pupils are becoming dysregulated

• Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour

• Build trusting relationships with pupils

• Encourage confidence and independence

• Help pupils engage with learning and wider school life

• Work alongside teachers and the SENCO

• Reinforce individual support strategies consistently

Who we are looking for

This role would suit someone with experience supporting children who may need additional emotional, behavioural or learning support.

Previous school experience is beneficial, but applications are also welcome from candidates with backgrounds in youth work, sports coaching, psychology, mentoring, care or family support.
