Senior Accountant – Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to manage accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance activities. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end closing, and providing financial information to management for decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting and financial transactions.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Perform bank, supplier, customer, and general ledger reconciliations.
• Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
• Review invoices, payments, receipts, and supporting financial documents.
• Monitor cash flow and assist with cash and bank management.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, provisions, and adjustments.
• Support month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Monitor outstanding receivables and payables and follow up on overdue balances.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Ensure proper accounting treatment and compliance with company policies.
• Assist with tax, audit, and statutory compliance requirements.
• Coordinate with external auditors and provide required financial information.
• Identify accounting discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
• Maintain proper documentation and financial records.
• Prepare management reports and provide financial insights when required.
• Supervise and guide junior accounting staff where applicable.
• Ensure confidentiality and security of financial information.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
• Professional accounting qualification such as CA, ACCA, CMA, CPA, or equivalent is an advantage.
• 3–7 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a senior accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Good knowledge of MS Excel and accounting/ERP software.
• Experience in reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end closing.
• Knowledge of applicable tax and statutory requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
