Senior Backend Engineer u2013 Java & AI Platform

What you'll do...

n
• Build and evolve Java/Quarkus backend services and REST APIs that expose Miles business capabilities to our AI and automation platforms.
n
• Design reliable multi-step business workflows, including validation, transactional behaviour, error handling and recovery.
n
• Integrate Miles with our Agentic AI platform, Temporal and other enterprise systems.
n
• Turn complex business requirements into clean, maintainable and well-tested backend solutions.
n
• Work closely with Backend, AI and Workflow Engineers, Business Analysts and Test Automation Engineers to build new capabilities end-to-end.
n

What you bring...

n
• Strong professional experience building backend applications in Java.
n
• Solid experience designing and implementing REST APIs, microservices and enterprise integrations.
n
• Strong understanding of automated testing, including unit and integration testing.
n
• Experience building backend systems involving business rules, transactions and complex workflows.
n
• Experience or genuine interest in AI-assisted software engineering: at SOFICO, we actively encourage engineers to bring AI tools (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) into every step of the product and software development lifecycle, from specification and planning through implementation and testing, and you should be eager to grow that practice with us
