You will enjoy the autonomy of a home-based Senior Building Surveyor / Chartered Building Surveyor position, working for a professional RICS-regulated property consultancy with an excellent reputation for customer service.

Rather than focusing solely on high-volume, institution-driven mortgage inspections, the business provides professional surveys and valuations directly to private clients across residential and commercial property. This means greater client interaction, professional ownership of your work and the opportunity to provide genuinely valuable surveying advice.

You will like

The Senior Building Surveyor / Chartered Building Surveyor role itself, where you will manage your own diary and geographical workload while working alongside an experienced, multi-disciplined team of Chartered Residential and Building Surveyors.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out RICS Building Surveys, Home Surveys and Condition Reports
• Completing comprehensive Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 surveys
• Preparing clear, detailed survey reports using RICS formats
• Undertaking Red Book market valuations where suitably qualified/registered
• Providing valuations for probate, IHT and matrimonial purposes
• Undertaking condition surveys and specialist property inspections
• Completing reinstatement/insurance valuations
• Advising clients before and after surveys, explaining findings clearly and professionally
• Managing your own diary, workload and appointments
• Maintaining professional standards and completing relevant CPD

This is predominantly a home-based/field-based Building Surveyor opportunity, covering Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield and the wider West Midlands, with reasonable access to the company's Sutton Coldfield office required.

You will have

To be successful as Senior Building Surveyor / Chartered Surveyor, you will ideally be MRICS or FRICS Chartered, although applications from highly experienced Building Surveyors with relevant professional qualifications and strong surveying expertise may also be considered.

You will also have:

• Strong residential and/or commercial building surveying experience
• Excellent technical knowledge of property construction and defects
• Experience producing high-quality survey reports for private clients
• VRS / Registered Valuer status advantageous but not essential
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills
• Good knowledge of Birmingham and/or the wider West Midlands property market
• Strong organisation and time-management skills
• Ability to work autonomously from home and manage your own workload
• Full UK driving licence and ability to travel throughout your territory
