At Wellington Transport Alliance, we're committed to delivering essential transport infrastructure while ensuring our people go home safe every day. We're looking for an experienced Senior Health & Safety Advisor to join our People & Safety team and help drive a strong safety culture across the Alliance.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive safety professional who thrives on building relationships, influencing positive safety outcomes, and driving continuous improvement across a dynamic operational environment.

About the Role

As a trusted advisor, you'll partner with leaders and teams to strengthen health and safety performance, support compliance, and promote best practice across our operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading health and safety initiatives and continuous improvement projects
  • Identifying risks and implementing effective controls
  • Leading incident investigations and sharing lessons learned
  • Coaching leaders and teams on health and safety practices
  • Promoting a positive safety culture through engagement and education
  • Supporting subcontractor health and safety activities
  • Supporting Health & Safety Representatives and Alliance-wide safety programmes

About You

You'll be a practical, people-focused Health & Safety professional who enjoys influencing positive change and building strong relationships.

You'll bring:

  • 3-5 years' experience in a Health & Safety Advisor role
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation
  • Experience leading investigations and managing risk
  • Proven ability to coach and influence leaders
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills
  • A collaborative approach and genuine commitment to keeping people safe

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (or be working towards one).
  • A current Class 1 Driver Licence.
