Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to support the delivery of complex engineering programmes within a highly regulated environment.

This role sits at the heart of a multidisciplinary engineering organisation, providing programme coordination, planning integration, and resource management across multiple concurrent projects. You will work closely with Engineering Managers, Project Managers, Planners, and Technical Leads to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, risks are managed proactively, and programme objectives remain on track.

This is an excellent opportunity for a project professional with experience in large-scale engineering programmes, particularly those involving steel structures, structural engineering, verification & validation (V&V), testing programmes, or complex design activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and integration of detailed programme plans across multiple engineering projects.
• Own and manage resource planning, including load versus capacity analysis for engineering teams.
• Create and maintain integrated Level 4 schedules, identifying dependencies, interfaces, and critical paths.
• Work closely with engineering and project teams to ensure realistic and achievable delivery plans.
• Support programme governance, reporting, and risk management activities.
• Drive consistency and best practice in project controls, scheduling, and planning processes.
• Challenge assumptions and ensure plans accurately reflect engineering scope and delivery requirements.
• Facilitate collaboration across multiple disciplines to coordinate key project deliverables.
• Monitor programme performance and recommend recovery actions where necessary.
• Provide leadership and guidance on Primavera P6 planning methodologies.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

You will be a strong project leader who is comfortable working in technically complex environments and engaging with stakeholders at all levels.

Essential Experience

• Minimum 4 years' project management experience within engineering, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, defence, construction, rail, aerospace, or similar sectors.
• Proven experience managing complex engineering programmes at programme level.
• Experience producing and managing detailed project schedules.
• Strong understanding of resource planning and load versus capacity management.
• Experience using Primavera P6.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams, dependencies, and stakeholders simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Required Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.

Desirable Skills:

• Background in steel frame structures, structural engineering, or large-scale engineering projects.
• Experience supporting Verification & Validation (V&V) activities.
• Experience within highly regulated industries.
• Familiarity with engineering design lifecycles and technical assurance processes.
• Exposure to major infrastructure or capital projects.
