Software Dev Manager III, Amazon Pharmacy

Lead a pioneering team at Amazon Pharmacy as we build our next-generation Pharmacy Warehouse Management System (WMS) from the ground up in Bangalore. As a development manager, you'll establish and scale a high-performing engineering team focused on mission-critical fulfillment technology that ensures medication safety for millions of customers across America.
You'll drive the technical vision and execution of complex distributed systems handling inventory management, order orchestration, and compliance-critical workflows, while integrating with cutting-edge robotics and AI/ML capabilities. This role requires a strong technical leader who can balance rapid innovation with unwavering quality standards in a highly regulated healthcare environment.

Key job responsibilities
* Building, leading and growing diverse, inclusive and high-performing engineering product teams, including recruiting, mentoring, motivating, promoting and performance management.
* Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including customers, product managers, stakeholders and leaders to ensure the successful delivery of product capabilities.
* Timely execution and prioritization of goals for the team and effectively mitigating risks.
Strategic leadership to create product roadmaps, set the vision for the team and collaboratively partner with other stakeholder teams.
* Technical leadership including architecture and design discussions for science and engineering problems and technical deep dives to ensure resolution of root causes of complex issues.

About the team
This team owns the technology that moves every medication from dock to patient — the warehouse management systems, the real-time inventory system of record, and the dispensing workflows across every form factor, from standard vials to cold chain to adherence packets. We control billions a year in pharmaceutical inventory across a fast-growing network of regional automated facilities, small-format pharmacies, and kiosks, scaling for 40%+ annual volume growth. Our work sits at the intersection of hard problems: real-time distributed systems, warehouse robotics and automation, write-time regulatory compliance, and ML-driven autonomy — all under a bar where correctness is non-negotiable because a patient is on the other end. We're building a single, platform-native architecture that tracks every drug in real time, automates the majority of fulfillment, and makes operations predictive and self-healing. For engineers, that means owning systems end to end and solving problems that don't have off-the-shelf answers.

Basic Qualifications

- 8+ years of engineering experience
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Excellent communication and articulation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
- Familiarity with GenAI tools and their application in software development
