In this role, you will be responsible for a special education classroom (grades 2-4) designed for students who struggle with emotional self-regulation, anxiety, and/or behavioral challenges.

What You’ll Need

  • Valid New Jersey teaching certification (Special Education K-12)

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • Subject area certification and/or relevant classroom experience

  • Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and student-centered learning

  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills

  • Experience with Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs)

  • Self-contained teaching experience

  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training in verbal de-escalation and restraint

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned with curriculum standards

  • Create a safe and supportive classroom that encourages participation and curiosity

  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and styles

  • Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate updates to families and staff
