Tax Compliance Officer

Our client is a leading manufacturer of skin care, oral care, squash, and hair care in East Africa. With a strong commitment to quality, innovation, and regulatory compliance, they are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Tax Compliance Officer to strengthen their financial governance and ensure full adherence to tax laws and reporting standards. The role is responsible for ensuring the company’s compliance with all applicable tax regulations, managing accurate tax reporting and filing, and serving as the key liaison with tax authorities and external auditors. Responsibilities: Prepare and file accurate tax returns (VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, Corporate Tax, SDL, etc.) in accordance with Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) requirements. Monitor changes in tax legislation and advise management on implications. Ensure timely payment of all tax obligations and maintain proper documentation. Reconcile tax accounts and resolve discrepancies with TRA or internal records. Coordinate tax audits and respond to queries from tax authorities. Maintain up-to-date records of tax filings, assessments, and correspondence. Support internal and external audits with relevant tax documentation. Provide guidance to other departments on tax-related matters (e.g., invoicing, procurement). Identify tax risks and recommend mitigation strategies. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field. CPA (T) or equivalent professional certification is an added advantage. Minimum 2 years of experience in tax compliance or accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or FMCG environment. Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax laws and TRA procedures. Experience with tax software and ERP systems (e.g., Tally, SAP, QuickBooks). Proficiency in MS Excel and financial reporting tools.
