  • Safely transports patients between departments, patient care areas and testing areas by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed, communicating arrivals and departures to the appropriate staff and customer service representatives as needed.
  • Delivers medical records, test results, specimens, mail, medical supplies, equipment, medication, isolation gowns, and other items as requested.
  • Meet the performance standards for moving patients and objects.
  • Assist in transfer process of patients from bed to mode of transportation and mode of transportation back to bed.
  • Request and obtain instruction/assistance from nursing staff for patients that require isolation techniques, two-person lifts, oxygen during transport, or that have support devices requiring special handling.
  • Adheres to corporate citizenship standards as well as all regulatory and corporate requirements and expectations.
  • Actively participate in facility/department programs, training, performance improvement and maintains a professional image at all times.
  • Adheres to department attendance policy.
  • Completes duties and responsibilities adhering to all safety and infection control policies procedures and practices including, but not limited to OSHA, product usage, P.P.E., proper hand washing techniques, isolation procedures, safe waste handling and knowing emergency codes and correct responses.

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job transports patients, medical records, mail, specimens and equipment/materials throughout the facility.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safely transports patients between departments, patient care areas and testing areas by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed, communicating arrivals and departures to the appropriate staff and customer service representatives as needed. Delivers medical records, test results, specimens, mail, medical supplies, equipment, medication, isolation gowns, and other items as requested. Meet the performance standards for moving patients and objects. (80%)

  • Assist in transfer process of patients from bed to mode of transportation and mode of transportation back to bed. Request and obtain instruction/assistance from nursing staff for patients that require isolation techniques, two-person lifts, oxygen during transport, or that have support devices requiring special handling. (10%)

  • Adheres to corporate citizenship standards as well as all regulatory and corporate requirements and expectations.
