Job Summary
The UG Foreman is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of underground construction projects, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. This role involves direct supervision of crew members, managing project timelines, and maintaining compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibilities
* Supervise and direct underground utility installation crews, including excavation, trenching, pipe laying, and backfilling.
* Plan and schedule daily work activities, ensuring optimal resource allocation and adherence to project timelines.
* Interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction plans to ensure accurate project execution.
* Conduct daily safety briefings, enforce safety protocols, and identify and mitigate potential hazards.
* Operate heavy equipment as needed, such as excavators, backhoes, and trenchers.
* Monitor and inspect work in progress to ensure quality craftsmanship and compliance with specifications.
* Maintain accurate daily reports, including progress, equipment usage, and material consumption.
* Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, clients, and crew members.
* Troubleshoot and resolve on-site issues and challenges in a timely and efficient manner.
* Train and mentor crew members, fostering a skilled and productive workforce.
* Ensure proper maintenance and care of tools and equipment.
* Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Job Qualifications
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in underground utility construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
* Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project specifications.
* Extensive knowledge of underground utility installation techniques, safety regulations, and best practices.
* Proficient in operating various heavy equipment relevant to underground construction (e.g., excavators, backhoes, trenchers).
* Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively to meet deadlines.
* OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
* Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred.
* Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
* High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or relevant certifications a plus.
