Utility Locate Technician

Company Description:

Swift Underground is an turn-key fibre optic installation company located in Steinbach, MB. We use industry leading equipment and technologies to install, test, and deliver high-speed fibre networks. We are currently seeking qualified individuals to join our Fibre Construction crews.

Position Summary:

The individual in this position will be hands on in supporting the construction of fibre optic outside plant. Key responsibilities include accurately locating and marking existing underground infrastructure, interpreting utility locate maps and as-built drawings, and compiling/inputting data into our build management software.

This position works independently in the field, but maintains regular communication with other construction crews to provide locate data and to ensure their safety while working near existing underground infrastructure. Our ideal candidate will highly value honesty, enjoy the outdoors, and be in good physical condition. Tools and equipment required for the position will be provided.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform accurate locates and clearly mark underground infrastructure
• Analyze and apply utility locate maps, records, and as-built drawings
• Record and input field data into build management software
• Offer guidance and support to construction crews and operators
• Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment

• Physically fit and capable of standing/walking for long periods of time

Compensation:

Beginning salary $16-$24/hr. Future raises and advancement opportunities based on job performance.
