Welder's Helper

JOB OVERVIEW (1 or 2 sentences regarding purpose of job)

·         The Welder Helper supports the lead welder by preparing materials, setting up equipment, and maintaining a clean, safe workspace. Key duties include grinding, cleaning, moving parts, and operating tools.

SPECIFIC TASK, DUTIES, & RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Assist lead welder in the fabrication, repair, and maintenance of metal structures and equipment.

·         Clean and maintain welding equipment and work area.

·         Operate hand and power tools.

·         Assist in the layout and assembly of metal components.

·         Preparing welding machines, setting up torches, gas cylinders, and extension cords.

·         Holding parts in place, aligning pieces, and assisting with complex, multi-person tasks.

·         Perform other duties as assigned by lead welder.

·         Removing slag, rust, and excess metal using grinders or wire brushes.

 

WORKER REQUIREMENTS (education, certifications, experience, etc.)

PREFERRED:

·         The ideal candidate will have experience in welding and metalworking, as well as the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.

REQUIRED:

·         Valid Louisiana Driver’s License

·         High school diploma or equivalent

·         Able to work under varying conditions

·         Ability to lift heavy objects

 

HOURS/SCHEDULING

·         Monday-Friday

·         7am-4pm

·         Call outs as needed.
