Position Objective:
The Assistant Professor – Research Programs has direct ownership and accountability for learner progression across doctoral coursework and early-stage research milestones. The role focuses on maintaining academic rigor, structured learner engagement, and adherence to research standards, ensuring learners are adequately prepared for advanced research stages within UniAthena’s doctoral programs.
Roles and responsibilities
- Take full ownership of doctoral learner progression across coursework and early-stage research, ensuring every assigned learner meets program milestones and academic standards. Accountability for outcomes lies squarely with you — delays, disengagement, or non-compliance must be proactively addressed.
- Drive measurable learner outcomes by monitoring progression, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing decisive interventions. You are responsible for ensuring that learners meet defined thresholds before advancing to subsequent stages.
- Ensure rigorous research governance through 100% attendance and substantive contribution in proposal presentations, doctoral committee (DC) meetings, reviews, and thesis evaluations.
- Engage learners proactively through structured mentoring, supervisory meetings, workshops, and capability-building sessions. Maintain continuous academic oversight, ensuring learners are supported, challenged, and guided effectively.
- Develop, curate, and maintain high-quality academic resources to support coursework delivery, early-stage research, and learner engagement. All resources must meet strict academic standards and enhance research readiness.
- Collaborate with Social Media and Business Development teams to drive innovative student recruitment and prospective learner engagement initiatives.
- Coordinate and collaborate effectively with senior supervisors, academic peers, LMS, Support, Marketing, and operations teams to ensure seamless learner support and uninterrupted progression.
- Lead academic interventions for at-risk learners, documenting actions taken and driving resolution through completion, remediation, or formal escalation.
- Contribute decisively to institutional governance, committees, conferences, academic presentations, and program initiatives, ensuring your input strengthens program integrity, learner outcomes, and UniAthena’s reputation.
- Uphold professional excellence and collaboration, demonstrating accountability in administrative duties, academic discipline, adaptability, and active participation in departmental initiatives.
