About this role

About the role

Our Financial Lines, Director's & Officer's practice in Sydney currently has an exciting opportunity available for an intelligent and motivated Associate lawyer with between 4-5 years' experience as this busy practice continues to grow.

The role includes handling complex financial lines, professional indemnity, director and officer (D&O) matters and provides coverage and dispute resolution services to both corporate and commercial clients locally and internationally.

The successful candidate will work closely with leading practitioners on a range of high value defence and complex coverage disputes and litigated indemnity disputes.

An ideal candidate will have a strong grounding in insurance law and/or litigation. If a candidate has both coverage and financial disputes experience that would be preferred, but not essential. The role requires an eye for technical detail and an appetite to engage with complex and challenging work. Our people are given every opportunity for both career progression and personal growth.

Key Skills & Experience

We look for ambitious lawyers who enjoy working as part of a dynamic and collaborative team with the following experience:

  • Qualified lawyer in Australia or another common law jurisdiction, with a minimum of 4-5 years' post-qualification experience (PQE);

  • General insurance litigation, financial lines, professional indemnity, and director and officers (D&O) experience is preferred;

  • Strong academic credentials, self-driven with excellent verbal and written communications skills;

  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities effectively;

  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work independently;

  • Commercial awareness and confidence in building a rapport with clients to gain a better understanding of their business' needs and with the assistance of the partner, actively developing these client relationships.
