We currently have a vacancy for an Electrical Supervisor – Project delivery, reporting to the Construction Superintendent

The Challenge Ahead

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor to join the Carrapateena Expansion Project team. Reporting to the Construction Superintendent, you will provide leadership and technical oversight for the safe execution of high voltage and electrical infrastructure works across a complex brownfield mining environment.

This role is focused on supervising contractors, coordinating critical shutdowns and isolations, ensuring compliance with BHP standards, and delivering works safely, on schedule, and to the required quality standards.

You will play a key role in the delivery of underground power supply upgrades, electrical installations, commissioning activities and energisation programs supporting one of South Australia's premier copper operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical professional who enjoys balancing field leadership, technical problem-solving and project coordination in a dynamic underground mining environment.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

You are a proactive leader with a strong technical background in electrical, instrumentation and communications systems and have proven experience supervising multidisciplinary construction works in mining, heavy industry or major infrastructure environments. You bring extensive experience in HV power systems, industrial instrumentation, fibre optic communications and control system integration, with a demonstrated ability to safely coordinate contractors, commissioning activities and brownfield project execution. Your leadership style promotes a strong safety culture while ensuring delivery of quality outcomes aligned with project objectives

To be successful, you will bring:

• Electrical Trade Qualification
• Instrumentation trade qualification (Desirable)
• HV Switching (Desirable)
• Demonstrated experience supervising electrical construction activities.
• Strong high-voltage (HV) infrastructure experience including electrical and instrumentation systems:  Substations, switchgear, transformers, HV cabling, distribution networks, process instrumentation and control systems
• Extensive knowledge of HV switching, isolations, LOTO and permit-to-work systems.
• Experience managing contractors and coordinating multiple work fronts.
• Proven ability to lead teams and maintain high standards of safety, quality and delivery.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Previous mining experience, particularly within brownfield operational environments.
• Experience overseeing HV testing, commissioning, instrumentation loop checking & functional testing
• Experience with installation, calibration, testing and commissioning of instrumentation including:  Pressure, temperature, flow and level devices, control valves and actuators, PLC and SCADA interfaces, fieldbus and industrial communication networks
• Demonstrated experience with communications infrastructure including: Fibre optic installation, testing and commissioning, ethernet and industrial network systems, cisco network hardware and communications infrastructure, mining communication systems and data networks
• Strong understanding of control systems, communications networks and their integration with electrical infrastructure.
• Experience supporting commissioning, troubleshooting and handover of electrical, instrumentation and communications systems within operational mining environments.

• Supervise the safe execution of construction, installation, commissioning and modification activities, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to plan.
• Lead and coordinate multiple work fronts, providing clear direction to contractors, trades and project teams to achieve project objectives.
•  Identify, manage and mitigate construction risks while ensuring critical controls are implemented and maintained throughout project delivery.
• Promote operational excellence by driving high performance, quality workmanship and adherence to site standards, procedures and statutory requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance and project stakeholders to plan and execute brownfield modifications and infrastructure projects.
• Support the development of operating procedures, maintenance work instructions, project documentation and handover packages.
• Conduct regular field leadership interactions, workplace inspections and safety observations to verify safe work practices and encourage continuous improvement.
• Monitor project progress against safety, cost, schedule and quality targets, providing timely updates and addressing emerging risks and opportunities.
• Foster a collaborative team culture through coaching, mentoring and developing personnel to achieve strong business and project outcomes.

Work Location

This position is based at Carrapateena, South Australia, operating on an 8 days on / 6 days off, DAYS ONLY roster on a FIFO basis from Adelaide or Port Augusta (Regional SA).
