Job Summary

Sentry is looking for a Fabrication & Welding Technician to join our Fabrication team in Watertown, SD.

This position is responsible for cutting, fitting, welding, and assembling steel components used in a variety of fabrication projects. The ideal candidate has experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment, takes pride in producing quality work, and is comfortable working independently while contributing to the overall success of the shop.

Experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person. If you show up ready to work, communicate well, take direction, and have a desire to learn and develop your skills, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities
-Perform MIG and Dual Shield welding on steel components and assemblies
-Operate plasma cutters and other cutting equipment
-Measure, layout, cut, fit, and prepare materials for fabrication
-Read and interpret basic shop drawings and fabrication plans
-Operate fabrication equipment safely and efficiently
-Perform grinding, cleanup, and finishing work
-Inspect completed work to ensure quality and accuracy
-Safely handle steel, materials, tools, and equipment
-Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
-Follow established safety procedures and shop standards
-Work with other fabrication team members to meet production goals and deadlines
-Assist with other shop operations and projects as needed

Qualifications

Required
-Ability to work safely in a fabrication/shop environment
-Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
-Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team
-Willingness to learn new skills and take direction
-Ability to perform physically demanding work in a shop environment

Preferred
-Previous welding experience
-Experience with MIG or Dual Shield welding
-Manufacturing, fabrication, or construction experience
-Experience using plasma cutters, grinders, saws, or other fabrication equipment
-Ability to read basic shop drawings
-Experience with measuring, layout, and material preparation
