A specialist education setting in West Drayton is looking for a committed Nurture Teacher & Deputy SENCO to join its team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher who wants to combine excellent classroom practice with the opportunity to develop their SEND leadership experience.

You will play an important role in creating an environment where pupils feel understood, supported and challenged to achieve their potential.

About the Role

As a Nurture Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, purposeful and differentiated lessons that respond to the individual needs of pupils with SEND, SEMH and additional learning needs.

You will create a calm, structured and nurturing classroom where pupils can develop confidence, resilience, independence and a positive relationship with learning.

Alongside your teaching responsibilities, you will work closely with the SENCO to help coordinate and develop effective SEND provision across the setting.

As Deputy SENCO, you will support the identification of need, contribute to the development of individualised provision and help ensure that staff have the knowledge, strategies and guidance they need to support pupils effectively.

The Role

You will:

• Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons

• Teach pupils with SEND, SEMH and additional learning needs

• Adapt teaching approaches to remove barriers to learning

• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils

• Maintain high expectations while recognising individual needs

• Assess, monitor and record pupil progress

• Develop personalised approaches to support individual pupils

• Support the SENCO with the coordination of SEND provision

• Contribute to the identification and assessment of additional needs

• Support the development and review of SEND provision

• Help staff implement appropriate SEND strategies and interventions

• Contribute to EHCP processes and annual reviews

• Liaise effectively with parents, carers and external professionals

• Support the implementation of SEND policies and procedures

• Promote inclusive practice across the setting

• Contribute to a positive culture around SEND, inclusion and pupil wellbeing

About You

You may already be working as a SEN Teacher, Nurture Teacher, SEMH Teacher or experienced mainstream Teacher with a strong understanding of additional needs.

You may also have previous experience as a SENCO, Assistant SENCO, Deputy SENCO, SEN Lead or SEND Coordinator, or you could be an experienced teacher ready to take your first significant step into SEND leadership.

You will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Experience teaching pupils with SEND, SEMH or additional learning needs

• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills

• A good understanding of inclusive teaching and differentiation

• Excellent communication and organisational skills

• The ability to build strong relationships with pupils and colleagues

• Confidence working with parents, carers and external professionals

• A commitment to high standards of teaching and learning

• A genuine passion for SEND and inclusive education

Most importantly, you will understand that behaviour is often communication. You will recognise that some pupils need a different approach, greater consistency and the right relationships around them — not lower expectations.
