Hays are partnering with a major utilities organisation to recruit an experienced Project Manager to support the delivery of capital and infrastructure projects across South Wales. This is an excellent opportunity for a project professional with a strong background in infrastructure, utilities or engineering environments to play a key role in delivering essential projects that support critical public services.

The position offers flexible working, with candidates able to operate from Welsh Water offices across Cardiff, Swansea, Hereford or North Wales, although the majority of project activity is focused across Cardiff, Swansea and the Valleys. The role combines office-based working with regular site visits and stakeholder engagement across live projects. Own vehicle required with business mileage reimbursed.

Your new role

Reporting into the Capital Delivery team, you will be responsible for managing the full project lifecycle from initial scope and design through to construction, commissioning and project handover.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering capital and infrastructure projects safely, on time and within budget.

• Managing projects under NEC contracts, including programme monitoring, contractor performance and commercial management.

• Ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations and wider health and safety legislation.

• Managing project risks, early warning processes and mitigation activities.

• Coordinating contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders throughout project delivery.

• Supporting the development of project scopes, solutions and cost plans.

• Monitoring project performance and taking corrective action where necessary to maintain programme delivery.

• Overseeing construction activities, commissioning and final handover processes.

• Working closely with operational, engineering and asset management teams to deliver successful outcomes.

• Managing relationships with external partners, suppliers, local authorities and other key stakeholders.
  
  

What you'll need to succeed

We're keen to speak with experienced Project Managers who have delivered construction, engineering or infrastructure projects in highly regulated environments.
Proven experience delivering capital, civil engineering or infrastructure projects.

You'll ideally possess:

• Strong NEC contract management experience.

• Excellent understanding of CDM Regulations and construction health & safety requirements.

• Experience managing contractors, consultants and multidisciplinary project teams.

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.

• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
