About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for a Registered Veterinary Nurse in Greasby, Wirral, offering a salary of £28,000–£36,000 pro rata depending on experience.

This is a full or part-time position within an established small animal practice where nurses are encouraged to use their clinical skills to their full potential.

The role offers a varied working pattern between 8:30am and 7:30pm Monday to Friday, alongside 1 in 3 Saturday mornings from 9:00am–1:30pm. The practice is happy to discuss hours and working patterns with the successful candidate.

There are no out-of-hours requirements or overnight inpatient checks, supporting a healthy work-life balance.

About the Practice

The practice is a well-established, locally owned first-opinion small animal surgery that has served the Wirral community since 2014.

The modern, purpose-built practice is RCVS-accredited and an Approved Veterinary Nurse Training Practice, providing an excellent environment for both patient care and professional development.

Facilities include:

• Digital X-ray

• In-house laboratory

Responsibilities

• Admit patients and complete thorough nursing assessments.

• Prepare patients for procedures and surgery.

• Monitor anaesthesia and provide high-quality peri-operative care.

• Recover patients safely following procedures.

• Provide inpatient nursing care.

• Discharge patients and provide appropriate aftercare advice.

• Utilise nursing skills across a varied small animal caseload.

• Work alongside Veterinary Surgeons, VCAs and Student Veterinary Nurses.

• Build strong relationships with clients and their pets.

• Maintain accurate clinical records.

• Promote high standards of patient welfare.

• Contribute positively to the wider nursing team and practice environment.

• Participate in CPD and develop areas of clinical interest.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a qualified RVN with good general nursing experience and a genuine passion for delivering excellent patient care.

They will ideally:

• Hold current RCVS registration.

• Have experience within small animal practice.

• Be confident across general veterinary nursing duties.

• Have excellent patient-care and client-service skills.

• Be cheerful, approachable and enthusiastic.

• Demonstrate a genuine interest in animal welfare.

• Be able to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.

• Have a positive and proactive approach.

• Be keen to continue developing their clinical skills through CPD and further qualifications.
