About the Role

An excellent opportunity is available for a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) in Lancaster, offering a competitive salary of £30,000–£35,000 pro rata, depending on experience, alongside strong clinical development and a supportive working environment.

This is a part-time position working 27 hours per week, including a 1 in 4 weekend rota, with no out-of-hours or overnight inpatient checks.

About the Practice

The practice is a purpose-built, RCVS-accredited veterinary facility with advanced diagnostic and surgical capabilities. The team is diverse, inclusive and collaborative, with a strong focus on supporting colleagues to perform at their best.

Facilities include separate dog, cat, exotic and isolation wards, alongside a comprehensive range of modern equipment, including:

• Laparoscopy

• Video otoscopy

• Ultrasound

• Digital X-ray

• Dental X-ray

• Imagyst cytology

• Orthopaedic equipment and facilities

The practice performs the majority of its first-opinion orthopaedic procedures in-house, with more complex cases referred to specialist centres and university facilities when required.

The practice is conveniently located close to local transport links, including bus routes and a train station, while the Lake District is less than 30 minutes away.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care across a varied small animal caseload.

• Support veterinary surgeons with consultations, diagnostics and procedures.

• Monitor and care for inpatients throughout their treatment.

• Assist with surgical preparation, anaesthesia, recovery and theatre duties.

• Support diagnostic procedures including imaging and laboratory work.

• Maintain high standards of patient welfare and clinical care.

• Communicate effectively with clients and provide appropriate nursing advice.

• Build strong relationships with clients and their pets.

• Contribute positively to a collaborative and inclusive team environment.

• Develop clinical interests through CPD and further qualifications.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be an RVN with good general nursing experience and a genuine passion for animal welfare and high-quality patient care.

Applications are welcomed from both experienced RVNs and newly qualified veterinary nurses. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, approachable and confident working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

They should ideally have:

• RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse.

• Good general nursing skills.
