About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a progressive and supportive practice in Scarborough, North Yorkshire.

This role offers genuine flexibility, with full-time hours of 40 hours per week or part-time hours available. Working patterns can be tailored around individual circumstances and clinical interests.

There is no out-of-hours or Sunday working, with a fair 1 in 2 Saturday morning rota, helping protect evenings and weekends and support a healthy work-life balance.

Salary up to £85,000 DOE (FTE), alongside a £5,000 welcome bonus or relocation support.

About the Practice

The practice is a community-focused small animal veterinary practice in central Scarborough, currently undergoing an exciting refurbishment to create a modern, bright and welcoming clinical environment.

The practice is well equipped with:

• IDEXX laboratory

• Dental X-ray

• Fully equipped theatre

• Provet practice management system

• Regular support from visiting veterinary specialists

The team promotes a culture of collaboration, inclusivity and continuous professional development, while giving Veterinary Surgeons genuine clinical freedom and the opportunity to influence the future direction of the practice.

The role may include occasional sole-charge working, with the support of an experienced and close-knit wider team.

Responsibilities

As a Veterinary Surgeon, responsibilities will include:

• Providing high-quality first-opinion veterinary care

• Conducting routine medical consultations

• Performing routine surgical procedures

• Managing a varied small animal caseload

• Developing thorough diagnostic and treatment plans

• Building strong relationships with clients and their pets

• Working collaboratively with Veterinary Nurses and the wider team

• Contributing ideas to the continued development of the practice

• Supporting high standards of clinical care and patient welfare

• Developing individual clinical interests and areas of expertise

• Participating in the shared 1 in 2 Saturday morning rota

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will:

• Be RCVS-registered

• Have 3+ years' experience in small animal practice

• Be confident with routine consultations and surgery

• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Be passionate about delivering high-quality patient care

• Enjoy working collaboratively within a close-knit team

• Be comfortable with occasional sole-charge responsibility

• Be keen to contribute ideas and help shape a developing practice

• Have an interest in progressing towards a clinical certificate or specialist area

• Be interested in either a clinical or leadership career path
