About the Role

An excellent opportunity is available for an Experienced Veterinary Surgeon in Thornton-Cleveleys, Lancashire, offering a salary of up to £70,000 DOE, FTE.

This is an ideal role for a Veterinary Surgeon looking for genuine professional development, with potential to progress towards a Lead Vet position and opportunities to support and mentor junior colleagues.

The practice can offer full-time, part-time and flexible working options. Full-time hours are typically spread across 4 days with a set day off each week, while weekends are worked on a 1 in 7 rota, followed by a long weekend the following week.

There are no OOH commitments, although stable inpatients may occasionally remain overnight.

About the Practice

The practice is based in Thornton-Cleveleys, a growing traditional seaside town just a few miles from Blackpool, with excellent access to the wider North West.

The practice has built a strong reputation within the local community and is committed to being more than simply a veterinary practice. They work closely with local charities, including the RSPCA, to help provide veterinary care within the community.

Consultations are 20 minutes as standard, allowing Veterinary Surgeons sufficient time to take thorough histories, discuss cases with clients and progress diagnostic work-ups where appropriate.

The bright, air-conditioned, purpose-built surgery has been designed to high industry standards and includes:

• Dedicated operating theatre

• Digital X-ray

• In-house laboratory

The team is experienced and stable, with several Veterinary Surgeons having worked at the practice for many years. This creates an excellent environment for experienced clinicians looking to develop further, as well as those who want additional support and confidence-building.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality first-opinion small animal veterinary care.

• Conduct thorough 20-minute consultations.

• Diagnose and manage a varied medical caseload.

• Perform routine surgical procedures appropriate to experience.

• Develop appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans.

• Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients.

• Work collaboratively with experienced Veterinary Surgeons and nursing colleagues.

• Support and mentor junior Veterinary Surgeons where appropriate.

• Contribute to the development of clinical services within the practice.

• Help expand in-house services and develop areas of clinical interest.

• Participate in the 1 in 7 weekend rota.

• Provide appropriate care for stable inpatients where required.

• Maintain high standards of patient welfare and clinical care.

Candidate Profile
