Senior Wellbeing and Safety Specialist  

As a Senior Wellbeing and Safety Specialist within ANZ’s Wellbeing and Safety team for Australia, you will play an important role in supporting the organisation’s approach to risk management and employee wellbeing and safety not only within the scope of the Australia team but support globally and in line with the broader Wellbeing & Safety strategy. This role works closely with the Manager, Wellbeing and Safety Australia and is part of a larger team that provides specialist advice, services and insights relating to improving how we prevent, respond and support wellbeing and safety in the workplace, and support and enhance the wellbeing of our people. 

A large part of the role is to provide support and guidance to the Wellbeing and Safety team Australia as well as engaging with and becoming a trusted source of information for Senior Leadership across a complex business. The Wellbeing and Safety team Australia is also responsible for the Global Wellbeing and Safety Management System maintenance and continuous improvement.

What will your day look like?

As a��Senior Wellbeing & Safety Specialist, you will:  

• Provide technical and specialist advice on the management of physical risk and psychosocial risk matters across the business.
• Develop and implement targeted interventions to support the management of wellbeing and safety risks across the business. This may include but is not limited to delivering presentations, facilitating action planning sessions with leadership teams and supporting teams to address physical and psychosocial risks in the most appropriate way.
• Influence key stakeholders (including senior management and other business representatives) to ensure best practice outcomes for W&S in line with legislative requirements, industry standards and best practice.
• Support ANZ to meet its Work Health and Safety (WHS) obligations in relation to wellbeing and safety risk and support the effective integration of practical solutions to physical and psychosocial risk management within the WHS Management System, Talent & Culture processes, and broader business practices where appropriate.
• Provide support, coaching and collaborative solutions to the broader Wellbeing and Safety team Australia as well as the other teams with the business unit Wellbeing and Workers Compensation, Mental Health and Wellbeing and the Asia, Europe and America’s Wellbeing and Safety team.
• Analyse and interpret data to help inform proactive and tailored interventions for emerging and existing risks.
• Work in collaboration with the Wellbeing and Safety Manager Australia on key pieces of work related to wellbeing and safety across many disciplines.
• Support the management of ANZ’s Safety Systems – SafetyHub (Donesafe)
• Build and maintain highly effective relationships with stakeholders and external providers.
• Maintain current knowledge of best practice and current trends in wellbeing and safety.
• Coordination of ANZ’s auditing program to support the Comcare requirements for ANZ’s self-insurance licence.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in large corporate environments supporting wellbeing and safety risk management
• Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety  
• Well-developed commercial acumen, with the ability to understand business strategy, navigate complex and at times, ambiguous environments.

• Experience in developing and implementing solutions to improve the management of wellbeing and safety risks, including at a broader business level.
• Strong team mindset and collaborative skills and ability to work in partnership with the broader Wellbeing & Safety function, and with other relevant teams across the business.

• Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to foster strong networks and operate in a collaborative environment.
• Knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements relating to wellbeing and safety.
• A commitment to personal development and keeping up to date with changes in legislation and best practice.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proactive and self-motivated.
• Proven ability to prioritise, plan, lead and manage work effectively.
• Experience with auditing
• Have a passion to learn and eagerness to expand areas of expertise as well as to identify enhancement opportunities for continuous improvement.
