TL;DR
- Teal is legit. It is run by Teal Labs, Inc., a funded Miami company, with public listings on the Chrome Web Store and Trustpilot.
- Best for: job seekers who find their own openings and want one place to track every job, contact and resume version.
- Main limit: Teal organizes the search you run. Its plans include no way to find who is hiring for a role.
- Price: the free plan has unlimited resumes and job tracking, with no card needed. Teal+ costs $13 a week, $29 a month, $79 for 3 months or $179 a year.
- Look elsewhere if you want matched jobs in 20+ countries, line-by-line ATS fixes or a way to reach the hiring team. Our picks are further down.
Short answer. Yes, Teal is worth it if staying organized is your main problem. The free plan already covers unlimited resumes and unlimited job tracking. Teal+ adds unlimited writing help, the full keyword list and advanced resume analysis for $29 a month, or about $15 a month if you pay for a year at once.
What is Teal?
Teal, often searched as TealHQ or the Teal resume builder, is a job search platform built around two things: a job tracker and a resume builder. It is run by Teal Labs, Inc. from Miami. Here are the main features of tealhq.com:
- Job tracker. Save jobs from 40+ job boards, including LinkedIn, Indeed and Glassdoor, with the Teal Chrome extension. Each saved job keeps its description, salary, status and notes, next to the contacts and companies you track.
- Resume builder. Keep one master resume and switch bullets on or off for each job. Writing help drafts achievements, professional summaries and cover letters.
- Match Score and keywords. Teal compares a saved job with your resume and marks each keyword as present or missing. The free plan shows the top 5 keywords.
- Job Search. Listings that Teal says come straight from company applicant tracking systems, with filters for salary, workplace type, experience and company funding stage.
- Interview practice and LinkedIn review. Practice interview sessions and a LinkedIn profile review tool.
How Teal works
- Build a master resume. Add all your experience once. You choose what to show for each job later.
- Save jobs. Bookmark a posting with the Chrome extension in one click, or paste the description in by hand on sites it does not support.
- Check the Match Score. Teal compares the job with your resume and color-codes the keywords: on your resume, in your master resume but switched off, or missing.
- Tailor and export. Switch on the bullets that fit, draft new ones with the writing help, move the strongest content up and export a PDF.
- Track and follow up. Move each job through its stages, set follow-up dates and send emails from templates.
On the free plan, steps 3 and 4 run on small allowances; Teal+ removes them.

Is Teal worth it?
- For tracking, the free plan is enough. Unlimited resumes and job tracking with no card means many people never need to pay.
- Pay when writing is the bottleneck. The free plan gives you 5 written achievements, 2 summaries and 1 cover letter. If you tailor for several jobs a week, you will run out fast, and Teal+ makes it unlimited.
- Weekly costs the most per month. At $13 a week you pay about $56 a month, nearly twice the monthly price. It suits one short burst of applications.
- Longer plans cost less per month. $79 for 3 months is about $26.33 a month, and $179 a year is about $14.92 a month, paid up front. Pick the yearly plan only if you will use Teal for most of a year.
Teal+ makes writing and keyword matching unlimited, but its feature list adds no way to find recruiters or the hiring team.
Is Teal legit?
Yes. Teal is a registered, funded company with a real product, not a scam. Here is what you can check yourself:
- The company. The Chrome Web Store lists the publisher as Teal Labs, Inc., at an address in South Miami, Florida. Teal's own site names Dave Fano as founder and CEO and says it has been building since late 2019.
- Funding. In January 2025 Teal announced a $7.5 million Series A co-led by CityLight Capital and Flybridge, bringing its total raised to $19 million.
- Public listings. The Chrome extension has 200,000 users and a 4.7 rating from 3.2K ratings. On Trustpilot, Teal scores 4.2 from 118 reviews. Trustpilot notes that Teal has no recent history of inviting reviews, and that it replies to every negative review.
- Your data. Read Teal's privacy policy before you import your resume and contacts.
Being legit does not make every claim independent. "Land interviews 6x faster" and "4 million professionals" are Teal's own figures, and its site does not say how they were measured.
What users say about Teal
- Mostly positive on Trustpilot. 71% of reviews give five stars and 13% give one star.
- What people like. The tracker replaces messy spreadsheets, saved bullets make tailoring faster, the extension saves jobs easily, and the free plan feels like good value.
- Common complaints. Users want more automation, such as filling in applications and less manual keyword work. Some say the written cover letters need heavy editing, some listings look stale, and one low-star review raises a cancellation and refund problem.
- Reddit. In two 2023 threads, Teal+ in r/jobsearchhacks and Have people been successful with Teal resume service? in r/jobs, some users like the job tracker and Chrome extension. The most common complaint is that the writing tools need a lot of manual input, such as adding keywords one at a time, and do little a free chatbot cannot. On paying, several commenters say the free plan covers most needs and the upgrade was not worth it for them.
- Newer Reddit threads. In a 2024 r/jobsearchhacks thread, Teal vs Jobscan vs EarnBetter, which did you find to be the most helpful tool?, some users find Teal easier for tailoring than Jobscan and like its follow-up reminders, while one calls its keyword matching surface level. In r/ResumeExperts, Tried careerflow + teal for ~ 2 months... honestly depends what you care about, the poster finds Teal smoother to use but says the free plan's limits come quickly.

What Teal does well
- A real job search tracker. Jobs, contacts and companies sit on one board, saved from 40+ job boards in one click.
- A generous free plan. Unlimited resumes and unlimited tracking, and Teal says no credit card is required, ever.
- Fast tailoring from one master resume. Switching bullets on and off per job is quicker than rewriting from scratch.
- Flexible billing. Weekly, monthly, 3-month and yearly plans, plus one-off payments if you do not want renewals.
Where Teal falls short
- You do the legwork. You find each job, save it and tailor for it. Teal's plans page lists tracking, resume and writing features, not a way to send applications for you.
- Limited keyword help for free. The free plan shows the top 5 keywords. The full list and advanced analysis need Teal+.
- A small free writing allowance. One cover letter and two summaries go quickly in an active search.
- No route to the hiring team. The contacts tracker stores people you add yourself. Teal's plan pages do not list a feature that finds recruiters or their contact details.
- Recurring billing by default. Plans renew until you cancel, and refunds need a request within 14 days.
Does Teal work outside the US?
Mostly, yes. Teal prices its plans in US dollars, but the tracker and resume builder work with any job you save. Its job pages include roles outside the US, such as in Toronto, Canada, but Teal does not say which countries its Job Search covers. Try a search for your city before you pay.
